Hindi Diwas is observed across the country on 14 September, to commemorate the day the Constituent Assembly of India recognised and adopted Hindi as an official Indian language. The Hindi Parishad of SJPUC organised an online programme on 14 September 2020 to celebrate the occasion which was live streamed on YouTube. The Guest Speaker, Mr Rajesh Kumar, Sr. Vice President, United Breweries discussed the importance of the Hindi language. He deliberated on making Hindi the common medium of communication throughout our country which would reflect “unity in diversity”. Rev. Fr. Melvin Lobo S.J, our Principal delivered an inspiring and informative speech in Hindi. He emphasized the importance of Hindi and its rising stature as an international language. He pointed out that Hindi was adopted as one the official languages in countries like Fiji, Trinidad, South Africa, and Mauritius, thereby achieving the status of one of the most widely spoken languages globally. Various online competitions were conducted for the students during the Hindi Saptah (Hindi week) to celebrate the day and assess their knowledge of Hindi Language and Literature . The students participated enthusiastically in events like Jumbled words, Hindi Quiz and Creative Writing, to name a few.
