"The future depends on what you do in the present".Mahatma Gandhi St. Joseph's PU College, celebrated the 151st birth anniversary of the Father of our Nation on 2 October 2020 . The students and faculty of SJPUC were invited to be part of the programme which was streamed on our YouTube Channel. The programme began with an introduction by the Masters of Ceremony, Sathyanarayanan and Unnikrishnan, who drew attention to the lives of Mahatma Gandhi and the former Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji, whose birth anniversaries we were celebrating. The Inter-religious prayer team invoked the blessings of the Almighty through a contemplative prayer session. The Keynote speaker for the day, Rev. Fr. Vivian Juan, was then invited to share his thoughts on the importance of the day. Fr. Vivian expressed his views on the power that our freedom holds and encouraged the audience to cherish the values of peace. This was followed by a documentary on the life of Gandhiji and his ideas of Truth and Non-violence. The Cultural Coordinator, Ms Smitha Chacko, elucidated the values that are central to celebrating the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti in her speech. She also stressed on implementing Gandhian principles in our everyday lives. The solemn programme came to an end with the Vote of thanks proposed by the Masters of Ceremony.
