The team consisted of thirteen teacher volunteers including Director Fr. Roshan David Pereira SJ. The staff members were welcomed by Fr. Leo SJ, the superior of the community. Later, Fr. Maxim SJ, senior-most and one of the pioneers of the Manvi mission addressed the staff members and spoke about the history of the mission station and the struggles they had undergone and how persistent they were amidst a lot of problems. The sharing was such an inspiring and motivating one for everyone. The staff members taught students as well as had an opportunity to interact with the women, who were part of a self-help group. The sessions ended with teachers’ and students’ group discussion and sharing. This outreach programme was an eye-opener for many of us to know how Jesuit fathers work tirelessly to create a just society amidst poverty and the caste system.
